Bullying (Man's Inhumanity to Man)

Maybe our society can't put an end to bullying because we aren't able to stand up for one another. Instead, our mind assumes that someone else will stand up for others. Or, we follow the crowd and make fun of the victim automatically, even though we know it's wrong. This relates to Ralph from the book Lord of the Flies because he constantly neglects the opportunity to stand up for Piggy towards Jack. Instead, he decides to follow the crowd and either makes fun of Piggy, or does nothing.

Summer Reading Question

While I read Bud, Not Buddy, I thought of the author and what kind of person he might be. I imagine Christopher Paul Curtis (author) as a person who was brought up in the same hometown as Bud. He probably didn't experience all of the same events that Bud did, but I imagine that he went through some of the same hardships. I also think of him to be someone who is very determined and caring like Bud. Overall, I imagine Christopher Paul Curtis to be quite similar to Bud.

My favorite subject is science, because I enjoy learning new things about the world. I also enjoy science because I like to conduct experiments.

The best book I ever read was The Map of the Known World.

My favorite food to buy in the cafeteria is nothing. I don't enjoy the cafeteria food.

On the weekend, when all my chores are done, I like to go over my friend's house.

If I won a free airline ticket to any place I wanted, I would go to Australia to visit the kangaroos and the Sydney Opera House.

If I had a pet, it would be a panda, and I'd name him/her Oreo.
